My machine. The Akai MPC 3000. Also designed by Roger Linn (see Linn Drum LM-1 below). This monster allowed 16 bit sampling with easy programability (is that a word?), and when it debuted in 1994 was ahead of it's time. I still use one for not only ease of use but for it's warm, rich sound not found (IMO) on later versions of the MPC.
